Emerging Sun developed a Technology Assessment for the Carnegie Institution for Science, proving to be instrumental in the key tasks undertaken:

  • Internal Data Analysis: Reviewed organization charts, IT budget/financial/resource information, and application inventory




  • Technology Roadmap:Produced current state technology map and 3-year technology roadmap to guide client through their IT transformation. Roadmap included requirements generation activities and acquisition timeline

  • Stakeholder Data Collection: Interviewed or electronically surveyed over 50 employees to understand business processes and current technology, identify high priority functional areas with technology gaps, and assess the operations of the IT organization.

  • Requirements Gathering: Interviewed key stakeholders in multiple internal organizations and documented requirements for a key system; assisted in acquisition management process by meeting with potential vendor to review requirements and assessed their ability to meet requirements

  • Recommendation of Tools and Solutions: Recommended tools and applications for high priority functional areas that lacked robust technology; areas addressed included finance and accounting, procurement/acquisition, and financial reporting


  • Benchmarking: Interviewed IT leaders from peer organizations to get a base understanding of how their organizations employ IT technologies and personnel in support of their mission
